The Players Tribe recruiting Q&A with Dallas Thomas

by David Michael

Dallas Thomas, a 6'8 wing, 6'10 wingspan. Thomas is ranked top 20 nationally in his class, via ESPN. A do-it-all wing, handles the ball well, can shoot on the perimeter, has really good size for his position. The potential he has being only 15 is SCARY. He played in the EYBL this past summer with Brad Beal Elite 15's. Most recent offer since Peach Jam is Texas Tech. He's one of them ones, wouldn't be surprised if his ranking continues to go up these next few years. Check out some of his Little Rock Parkview HS this upcoming season, where he holds a strong 3.85 GPA.

Which schools have been involved in your recruitment lately?

"Illinois, Memphis, Texas a&m, Arkansas, Houston, Missouri state, Depaul, St. john’s, Tulsa, Tcu, Michigan, Missouri, and Butler have all been involved in my early recruitment process."

Let’s take it back to your first offer, heard that your dad played at Missouri State, what was it like receiving your first from Missouri State?

"It was great, truly a blessing. It definitely encouraged me to work even harder because it showed me that the work is paying off."

Recent offer from Texas Tech, thoughts on Coach Williams?

"He was real cool and straightforward, which is good.. had a great first impression."

Talk Michigan, what’s Juwan Howard’s pitch?

"He just told me that he heard some good things about me and he’s going to be keeping up with me in the future."

Talk Memphis, there known for having NBA legend Penny Hardaway as coach, they’ve been making big moves lately, thoughts on the program?

"It’s a nice program for sure. Been keeping up with them since I was little, they always have a good team with good prospects and also a nice style of play."

As an Arkansas native, staying in your home state wouldn’t be a long flight, what’s Eric Mussleman’s pitch?

"He was telling me how he’s been keeping up with me and stuff.. told me he loves my game.. as an Arkansas native it’s always nice to see your hometown taking notice and showing love."

Last recruitment question, I know it’s pretty early in your process, any planned college visits?

"I have Arkansas and Illinois visits planned for sometime this month, no exact dates yet though."

Let’s talk hoops, you stood out at peach jam, what was the EYBL experience like playing with Brad Beal Elite? how did you perform?

"The EYBL experience was super fun.. it was definitely one of the best experiences of my life on and off the court, the memories. Hard and good times were all great. I feel like I performed very well for sure. There’s always room for improvement of course but I performed good."

Describe your game, strengths, weaknesses

"I describe my game as a versatile all-around player, I can shoot the ball midrange and three, I can handle the ball and I’m really starting to become a consistent 3 level scorer. My weakness is my physical strength, which will come with getting older and the more work I'm putting in, another weakness would probably be my defense against smaller and quicker guards which I’ve been working on."

When the time comes what things will be important when making your college decisions?

"My relationship with my coaching staff and school will be one of the most important things.. also the style of play the team has and the role I have on the team will determine a lot, along with the history of the school and how well the school treats me. Also seeing what different players they recruit at my position.. I wouldn’t want to go to a school with a lot of players in my same position".
