College recruiting Q&A with 2022' Forward Jalen Reed of SCA.


Jalen Reed is a 6'10 220-pound power forward from Mouth of Wilson, VA. Reed played this past AAU season with ProSkills EYBL (TX) and was one of the top performers during the summer and spring. It was recently announced that he will be attending SoCal Academy this upcoming year. .


What schools have been involved in your recruitment lately?

"Ole Miss, Arizona State, Texas Tech, DePaul, Xavier, Grand Canyon, South Carolina, Georgia"


Any plans on visits?

"I took a recent official to Florida this past weekend and I plan on taking 4 more later on."


What kind of player do you describe your self as?

"I feel that I’m very versatile I feel like I’m a big mismatch for most people I can take bigger guys off the dribble and also post smaller guards and forwards I have the ability to pick and pop and I also feel that I’m a decent shot blocker."


What was the EYBL experience like playing for ProSkills?

"It was great I enjoyed every minute of it especially because I’ve never played on the EYBL before but this year was a great experience."


What did you think of the Florida visit & what do you look for in a college program?

"I really enjoyed it, it was everything I expected for my first visit and mainly I look for a family environment and also who has the biggest plans for me."


I know that you have transferred to SoCal Academy! What went into the decision of choosing to play there for your upcoming senior year before you head to college?

"I felt that Coach Julius has my best interest. It’s also a young program and I feel like me and the other guys can really have a national impact, and also bring attention to the program."


What would you say is the most underrated aspect of your game?

"My passing for sure I feel I’m a very underrated passer."


Any visit dates planned? Plans on a commitment date?

"Not yet and I’ll commit in the winter sometime."


Any advice for young athletes trying to get offers like you?

"Stay in the gym, work, and make sure to surround yourself with people who genuinely want to see you succeed. "
