The Players Tribe interview 2025 6'3 G Trey Mckenney from Michigan.
Trey Mckenney is one of the most talented incoming freshman in the country. At such a young age, he's already a target for high-major D1 schools. He is an exciting young talent coming out of Flint, MI. He was one of the standouts at Made Hoops this summer and ran with Bates Fundamentals playing up on the 16u team. Make sure to follow his high-school career and watch him continue to flourish on the AAU scene, as he will continue to pick up offers.
What colleges have recently been involved in your recruitment?
"Iowa State, Memphis, Texas, Temple, Depaul, TCU."
How did it feel to get your first offer from Depaul?
"It was exciting, you know, I never thought I would be getting offers this early."
You’ve been getting attention from plenty of High Majors lately...guys will be trying to stop you this season on the court because of that, how are you going to react to that?
"I’m just gonna play my game. I never let people get me out of my game."
You are from the same state as Emoni Bates, as well as Miles Bridges. What has been their advice for you coming into High School?
"Those are my big brothers. They just give me the advice to stay on course."
What was your experience like playing with Bates Fundaments? Any takeaways from this summer?
"The experience of playing up 16u was great, you get a lot of exposure. My takeaway was you are playing a top team or player in the country every game on the EYBL."
How would you describe your game? What kind of player are you?
"I’m an all-around player that can make my teammates better and can impact the game without the ball."
What are some goals you got for this upcoming school season?
"My goal is to win a state championship, definitely. I mean, my school last year lost in the regional finals to the team that one state. So, I’m just trying to do whatever I need to do to win it. I also want to be all state."
For sure. What are some of your weaknesses? Things you would like to improve on?
"I can definitely get better and improve by my range on my shot."
When the time comes obviously, what will be important when making your college decisions?
"The thing that will take part is what will be my role on the team and just how much how much could I impact the team in a good way."
